The Mammoth Lakes Police Department and the California Highway Patrol would like to invite parents and children to a Child Car Seat - Bike Rodeo - Child Safety Special Event. Parents and those who transport small children are encouraged to attend. Have your child’s safety seat professionally checked for proper installation and any recalls. Receive instruction on how to properly install the seat as well as properly adjusting the seat with the seated child. Those with child safety seats deemed unsafe or inadequate will receive replacement child safety seats at no charge.  


Kids - Bring your bicycle and bicycle helmet and test you're riding skills and bicycle safety knowledge at our Bike Rodeo and bicycle obstacle course.  Additionally, the Mono County Health Department has a very limited number of bicycle helmets, available free of charge, to those who are unable to afford one, on a first come first serve basis.


Representatives from the following organizations will be in attendance providing information on child safety and their available resources: First 5 Mono County; Mono County Health Department; Mammoth Hospital; Wild Iris; Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, including “Sparky” the fire dog; Mammoth Lakes Police Department, including “Darren” the D.A.R.E. lion.


Safe Kids DNA collection / identification kits will also be available.


The Mammoth Lakes High School senior class of 2011 will also be hosting a bake sale fundraiser. Refreshments and baked goods will be available. All proceeds received will be used to offset graduation costs for the senior class.


This event will be held on Sunday May 22, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Mammoth Elementary School Parking lot.
